In AC welding, the tungsten electrode (TIG needle) is both the anode and the cathode.
Aluminum is best welded with a green tungsten electrode. If you take a new one, it becomes round at the tip when ignited, a so-called calotte.
With alternating current, we are talking about AC mode, which must be set on the welding machine.
In DC mode, where you weld stainless steel and steel, for example, you will have a hard time welding aluminum.
