Craftsman workwear important or irrelevant?
Work clothing important or irrelevant?
I think all tradespeople are concerned with the subject of workwear.
How important is work clothing, how much can or should it cost?
I bought some new work clothes today and there were other tradesmen in the store I was in and I listened to the conversation.
One said to the other, “I’m not spending that much money on this shit!
I can just take any old clothes and don’t have to buy such expensive ones. And my boss has to pay for them anyway. Okay, I say on the one hand the boss can really take care of it, so he has an expense, the employee is happy and pleased and if the employee is doing well, the boss is of course doing well too.
In any case, I can’t share the attitude that I think work clothes are extremely important, if you think about how much and how long you wear them a day or a week, you shouldn’t wear cheap clothes. If you do the math, you’re wearing more work clothes than leisure clothes. And I think most people spend more money on leisurewear than on their workwear because of the aspect that the workwear gets broken or wears out.
But that’s exactly the next point – the right workwear actually lasts longer because it’s made of a different material and is much more durable.
Just thinking about how much we stand on our feet all day. And then perhaps wearing some cheap €20 shoes is bound to ruin our feet.
In recent years, I have had very good experience of wearing proper and suitable work clothing. Because you just have to internalize that you really do wear them a lot during the week.
I have put together a few links here of what I use for work clothing and can recommend to you.
