Welding without wire
Greetings welding fans,
Welding without wire
The subject of welding without wire here we must of course first discuss which welding process, the MAG welding process of course does not work without wire, so we can only talk about the TIG welding process here.
In TIG welding, we have a torch with which we melt the material and the filler material is in the left hand or in the other hand, which we can then feed as required.
Under certain conditions, we can also let the material run, so we don’t need any additional material. But now the question is always what must the whole thing hold in the end and what are the conditions for letting it run.
These are things where you should ask yourself the question, because if you add filler material, you have a much stronger and more stable weld seam, which is of course very important for many things.
For example, when I build aluminum boxes, we do the edge ejection and run off with checker plate you have the advantage that there is more material anyway, which then runs into the weld seam.
Important protect yourself NOW simply & cheaply from welding fumes!
So if you just let it run and don’t have enough material there, it’s a very weak weld seam, so you always have to weigh up what is where and hold the weld seam at the end. Visually, of course, the whole thing can also look very cool and if it doesn’t have to last any longer, it’s completely justifiable.
When welding stainless steel, for example, it works extremely well with a large gas lens; when welding stainless steel, it is best to weld with more gas anyway for optimum gas coverage.
The situation is completely different with aluminum, where you do not need more gas to run but more amperes, so here you have to weld with 30 40 A more if you want to run than if you weld with filler material.
Or save time and money and achieve results quickly and easily.
This does take a bit of welding time, you have to practise letting it run while welding, but that comes with time and then works wonderfully.
So I hope the tips have helped you and you like them, then I would be very happy if you stop by on my channels. It’s all about welding every day & there are tips and tricks.
