Greetings, today we are talking about forming during TIG welding.

 

 

 

 

Did you know that you can also form gas with argon?

 

Now I have often heard from many welders that argon gas is far too expensive for forming compared to correctly informed from.

 

I have to say that’s absolutely right, but when I think about how often I have to form something, I don’t know whether it’s worth adding an extra gas cylinder.

I now have four gas cylinders in my workshop and of course the whole thing involves money! And I think in the hobby sector, if you don’t do it too often, argon is completely sufficient for this. And I just wanted to give you a few tips on the best way to do this.

First of all, I recommend this double branch.

 

 

 

The double branch is simply connected to the pressure reducer. Where the connection from the welding machine is normally located, you have a second connection for a hose, which you can then use for forming.

 

This is really a very simple thing and is a great help when you need to shape something, for example exhaust systems.

 

With these nozzles you have a much better gas coverage Advantages: longer stickout, melting bath runs better, normal gas flow quantity 8-10l and hardly any tarnishing colors less reworking

 

 

 

What else do you need, of course you have to close the respective container so that a lot of argon cannot escape uselessly!

 

There are, for example, rubber plugs in different sizes, on one side you simply drill a hole through which you can push the hose.

Option number two would simply be aluminum tape or duct tape, which you can also use to seal the container and then simply put the hose through and glue it together.

 

 

A note on the double branch – it has two settings for how much gas it lets through. Do not fully open the connection that you use for forming, otherwise you will use too much gas for welding.

 

 

Connect the hose, open it a little and simply wait 2-3 minutes until the container has filled up with argon.
