What is the best way to start with aluminum welding?

 

 

We have already done a lot of rock posts and videos on the subject of how best to get started. That’s why I’m going to link them here. But of course we’ll go through the whole thing again in detail now.

 

 

At the beginning, it is of course important to decide whether you want to make repair welds or custom-made products.

 

 

I would always start with the correct technique and the correct settings on the welding machine.

 

 

 

I.e. correct gas setting, correct burner accessories for the Wig burner because you can already prevent (optimize) a lot with it.

 

 

 

 

Learn to weld online!

 

 

For aluminum, I recommend not setting the current rise too low and the gas post-flow time. That’s actually two or three small tips that will make the Make it easier to start welding aluminum.

 

The next important thing is to always make it as easy as possible for yourselves. Place the hose from the tig torch on your lap or over the welding machine so that you don’t have the whole weight on your hand.

 

Make sure that you can align your part so that you can rest both arms on the table, for example. You can do this at the beginning so that you get a feel for welding and can concentrate fully on the weld pool.

 

 

Of course, it’s a matter of practicing to get the processes into your head first when you have to work with both hands.

Yes, and apart from that I can only tell you to practise, practise, practise. Take the practice sheets to try out, familiarize yourself with the welding machine and the settings so that you get a feel for how and what works best.

 

Another tip, use the green tungsten electrodes for aluminum welding. I have known for ten years that they are the best, even if many people claim otherwise. Try it out and let the needle protrude about 5 mm from the ceramic nozzle.
