distortion during welding is a frequently asked question.

 

And that’s what we want to talk about here today.

 

So, what can you do and what should you bear in mind to avoid default?

 

 

The first important point is to staple neatly and in the right places.

 

 

 

 

This means, for example, that when you weld a frame, you make a proper, deep welding spot at the outer corners.

 

Now the frame can be optimally aligned and ideally tightened with clamps on the welding table.

 

Of course, a hole welding table would be perfect here, which I can highly recommend. I have attached a video of the tables at the bottom.

However, if you only have a normal table, you can also use simple clamps. You may have to help yourself with extensions. You can simply take longer profiles and stretch them over the frame.

 

 

 

 

Then I would staple through the whole thing properly, at least 3-4 times in all places.

 

 

Another thing I think is very important is to always weld diagonally from each other with a lot of amperes and quickly.

This brings in a lot of heat, but only for a very short time. This helps to keep warping to an absolute minimum.

 

Important protect yourself NOW simply & cheaply from welding fumes!

 

 

 

For example, we have often welded side covers for engines by clamping them on the welding table. In other words, we placed a profile in the middle and then pulled it down with screw clamps on the right and left. Of course, it always depends on which area you are welding. And very importantly, the Distortion is caused by too much heat and the duration of welding.
