Motorcycle / car tank brazing TIG welding with CuSi
Greetings from Schweißfan,
Motorcycle / car tank brazing TIG welding with CuSi
Soldering the steel tank is no problem. There are two variants with which you can do this very easily.
What’s bad, however, and this is what we want to talk about today, is when the tank has already been welded several times. You don’t actually know what material is still inside, i.e. the filler material can no longer be distinguished.
Then you have to see if you can still get it, for example if cutting out the sheet metal is not an option. We had just such a situation from a customer the other day.
That around five different welding processes and filler materials have been used. And we could no longer assess or decide what it was.
We have found a really cool solution with a very good filler material that can be used for almost any application.
Before you use this filler material, however, always try to weld the whole thing normally using the TIG or MAG process first, so that the whole thing stays clean and is simply made of steel again as normal.
This is the filler material we use for this. It is virtually a mixture of mormal filler material steel and a brass solder.
This is the plumb bob.
