Cast aluminum cylinder welding
Of course! Of course, as always, it always depends and there are a few things to bear in mind. There are various things that can be broken on a cylinder like this. It usually happens due to accidents or dismantling the cylinder or even dropping it.
Then it can also happen that, for example, cooling fins break off, threads are defective or the manifold thread is broken.
This topic has accompanied us a lot in recent years and we have been able to gain a lot of experience in this area.
In other words, we weld and repair such cylinders. For example, you can simply weld the material on and then give it to a milling cutter, which then cuts the threads again and you have repaired the whole thing and brought it back to its original condition without any Heli Keul stories or glue. What I always find most important.
If a cooling fin is broken off, you have to see if you have the space to simply weld it back on, if it is still there. If not, it doesn’t matter, we can regenerate and restore the whole thing.
Now, what is important if you want to weld the whole thing yourself? Anyone who knows me knows and that is definitely the preparation, i.e. the cleanliness and cleaning of the cylinder. Almost nothing is possible above that. Make sure that you clean and prepare everything properly with acetone and a wire brush and, for example, a hot air dryer.
Once you have done this, you can basically start welding. I usually use the ALMG 5 filler material, which is an all-rounder that really almost always works.
Another big advantage would be if you had it stainless steel bead blasted beforehand. This cleans and compacts the surface and is easier to weld.
With the device you can also do it all yourself super part
