Welding which electrode

 

Let me introduce you to the different types of electrodes.

 

 

 

Greetings, so today’s topic is welding and which electrode to use. Here, of course, we first have to differentiate between TIG welding and electrode welding.

 

 

In TIG welding, we differentiate between whether we want to weld stainless steel, steel or aluminum, and this is where we start to differentiate which tungsten electrode we want or need to weld with. We have a wide range of variants that are marked with different colors.

 

I personally use the golden tungsten electrode for steel and stainless steel welding, which is sharpened to a point. It is important to always grind in the direction of the point. This is important so that you have an optimum arc when welding. Here we still have the option of choosing the diameter, but I think the 2.4 TIG needle is an all-rounder and can be used for many different applications.

 

 

For aluminum welding I use the green tungsten electrodes, because here we want a ball to form at the tip, the so-called calotte. I have been welding aluminum for a very long time now and can highly recommend it to you because it works best with this green tungsten electrode.en goes to welding aluminum.

As already mentioned, there are many different colors of electrodes for different applications.

Whether you need them all is questionable, but you are welcome to try it out and, as I said, you can see the whole thing in a video I made.

Now there are the different diameters of the needle, as I have already mentioned, for example 1.6, 2.4 and 3.2.

I weld every day and have the 2.4 needle for welding 90% of the time. When I weld over 250 A I use the 3.2 and when I weld under 50 A I use the 1.6
