Steel cylinder welding with cast electrode
Greetings from Schweißfan,
Steel cylinder welding with cast electrode
There are extra electrodes for this, which make it very easy to weld. Of course, it’s the normal preparations, like always cleaning and tidying properly. When casting, it is always best to preheat the part properly.
Then the whole thing can be welded perfectly and is best cooled down slowly so that no stress cracks occur.
With the Nife electrodes it is important that you only weld piece by piece. As little heat as possible must be introduced into the cylinder.
But today it’s all about welding using the TIG welding process. How to do the whole thing. In principle, it is possible in any case. Normal cast steel electrodes are also used for this purpose. However, the conversion of the electrode is removed here and it is used as a normal filler material, as is the case with TIG welding.
I was also skeptical at first. But I have to say, it works extremely well, so of course I tried it out straight away. Of course, it works much better than electrode welding.
But I’m also honest and have to say that unfortunately it doesn’t work everywhere. I have tried it out on about eight parts to date. I started with WIg and when I realized that it wouldn’t work, I welded it with an electrode. But you really notice this very quickly when welding. You can also watch the whole thing again in the video, it’s just below.
