Greetings from Schweißfan,
Yes, the question is, can magnesium be repaired and if so, how? Magnesium is actually better known for the fact that it cannot be repaired or is very difficult to repair. There are a lot of statements circulating on the net.
And I had exactly the same problems a few years ago. I didn’t know how to repair or weld certain parts. That they can then be ground, milled, turned and reinstalled.
It is particularly common in the classic car sector. E.g. VW Beetle or T1 Bulli. But it was also used a lot in motorsport and racing because of its low weight.
Thank goodness it’s exactly different now. I now know how to weld the whole thing and which filler material can be used to weld it so that it holds in the end and looks original again.
The whole thing has to be extremely clean, of course. The most important thing is, of course, the right filler material.
This means that if you need support with a part now, we will be happy to help you. You are welcome to contact us. But if you say you want to repair the whole thing yourself, we will of course help you.
The problem we faced at the time was getting the right filler material. We can also help you with this, you can get it from us.
So I hope I was able to help you with this article on repairing magnesium. I would be delighted to receive your feedback. And if you would like to find out and see more about welding, then take a look at our channels. Welding is a daily topic there.
