Welding fan I salute you

Why have ventilation at all? What advantages does this bring? Why should I seriously think about it? And why do I personally work with it? I am Eric Löffel and I work in my workshop every day. We weld, grind, mill and machine various materials such as aluminum, stainless steel and steel.
It is generally known that welding fumes and grinding dust can be very harmful to health and can cause certain diseases such as cancer.”
“It is extremely important to definitely protect yourself against welding fumes and grinding dust, as your health is at stake. At the time, I realized how much this influenced my everyday life. I became sluggish, tired and felt unwell. Of course, these effects are only those that you feel at the moment, not those that will become noticeable in old age if you don’t protect yourself from these dangers.
Optrel therefore has two very interesting systems on offer. One of these is the fresh air system with a belt and the Swissair system. Both systems have different areas of application. You can weld and grind excellently with both systems. Essentially, they have a backpack system and a belt with filters. The ambient air is sucked in, filtered and fed through a tube into your helmet or face mask.
This means you always have fresh air available and don’t breathe in any welding fumes. Note, however, that welding fumes are still present in the environment and in the room. It is therefore important to ventilate the room well or, even better, to use an extraction system. We use all three variants to be on the safe side.

One advantage of the backpack system, i.e. the Swissair system, is that it can be used in even more versatile ways, not just for welding or grinding. For other applications, there is the flip helmet, which has the flip function that allows you to both weld and grind.
This means you have a much better field of vision with the flip function. You see everything as if you were looking normally and can use the fresh air helmet at the same time. This is an absolute must for me and a great system that I enjoy working with every day. I definitely recommend it for every user.
If it’s just too much of an investment for you to use such systems, I strongly recommend that you at least wear a face mask to protect yourself from the welding fumes.”
