Welding, what do you need?
Hey sweat fan greetings,
Welding, what do you need?
What do you actually need for welding in general? Of course, first and foremost you need a welding machine for the area that you would like to cover. There are three different variants here, all of which have their advantages and disadvantages.
The second thing you need is proper protective equipment. Here it depends on the welding process that is used. One requires a little more than the other. In other words, more for mag welding and not quite as much for TIG welding.
For a welding process, you definitely need a proper welding helmet including welding gloves. I always recommend welding with long clothing because the UV rays are extremely dangerous for the skin.
Even my dermatologist recommended applying sun oil to the exposed areas of my body.
What should definitely be at the top of the list is a face mask. The gases released during welding should not be underestimated.
Then we come to the point: what other accessories or equipment do you need? Of course, as always, it depends on the type of welding, that you use. For TIG welding, you will of course need filler material and torch accessories.
If you like welding, you should always have something in stock in case something breaks, and then the corresponding wire that you need for welding.
Welding, what do you need? In general, I would definitely recommend a few more accessories, such as a magnetic burner holder so that the burner is always to hand where you need it. Next, a box of leftover material that can be used to level or align certain things.
The other tools I use are grip pliers, for example when I want to weld sheet metal. Also angle magnets, which are actually also great for welding certain parts, to align
I always recommend a wire brush for cleaning. I now have an attachment on a small cordless screwdriver to make it quicker (for the lazy among us). Otherwise, a cloth and acetone are sufficient for cleaning.
Oh, I also have a small and a large vice at my welding table so that I can position my parts in such a way that I can weld them optimally.
Yes, I hope that these tips can help you. I have attached a video of myself below where I captured the whole thing. Take a look at my channels for the Welding topic.
