Welding cast steel
We share our experience of cast steel welding with you here.
Welding cast steel today. Of course, this is a very special topic because not many people can weld cast steel.
The main problem with stable castings is that unfortunately they cannot be MAG or tig welded, so the best solution is electrode welding with an electrode designed directly for cast steel.
But why is cast steel now so difficult to weld? This is due to the high carbon content, which is much higher than that of normal steel, making it difficult to form, forge or weld.
We have already tried a few things and experience has shown that, as I said, electron welding works best. There are suitable electrodes for this and they are really great for welding. What you have to be able to do here, of course, is electron welding, which is of course something different from TIG or MAG welding, we have to make that quite clear!

But with a bit of practice, you get the hang of it and then it works perfectly, I didn’t learn it either and practically taught myself with a lot of practicing.
We recommend preheating and reheating cast steel so that the heat slowly enters the material and then slowly leaves again. I hope I was able to give you a few tips that will help you, you are welcome to visit our channels we link to them.
It’s really cool what we’ve done now and we’ve tried a lot. The whole thing can also be TIG welded by simply removing the conversion from the electrodes and using it as a normal filler. Try it out
