TIG welding with glass nozzle what are the advantages?

 

Once again we tested glass nozzles for a TIG torch. Once a normal ceramic nozzle with gas lens, once the glass nozzle set from Weldinger and once the glass nozzle set from kempii.

 

 

We have compared these three and tested which one works better and which one has an advantage. First and foremost, you are already well equipped if you use a ceramic nozzle with a gas lens and not the standard gas nozzles where the gas coverage is simply very poor.

 

 

 

 

 

Yes, what are the advantages of the glass nozzle first and foremost, of course, and I think it’s really great that you have a much better view of the melting bath. And in my opinion, this is one of the most important aspects of preparation and cleanliness, namely the view of the melting bath.

So no joke, you don’t have to contort yourself so much when welding because you can really see everything very well in almost every position. It’s also cool for me to see how the scaling forms behind the weld seam, you get a better feel for the uniformity of the scaling.

 

 

 

 

But there are still advantages, of course, and that is better gas coverage. The size of the FUPA glass nozzle is of course also decisive because, as I said, it offers better gas coverage than the others. I have tested this and it really is the case that it is completely sufficient to weld with 8 liters of gas and not with 12 liters as with others. In other words, you already have extreme gas savings here.
