For this, of course, we need the right filler material, either for the magnesium alloy or for the aluminum casting. In addition, as already mentioned, cleaning before and during welding is extremely important. Over the past 11 years, we have gained a lot of experience in how we approach the whole thing. A special setting of the welding machine is also important with regard to the number of hearts and the cleaning effect. We have also often had very good experiences with the helium-argon mixture shielding gas. This is another game changer – if a component is heavily contaminated, it still works extremely well. As you can see, we have already tried out a lot and have been able to repair and weld many Porsche engine housings.
