Aluminum radiator conversion
Greetings car / welding fan,
Is it possible to convert the aluminum radiator yourself, how exactly does it work and what do you have to pay attention to?
We recently had another cool project at our company, where we had to recreate a radiator. Originally it was a radiator with plastic tanks, which unfortunately often leak.
For this reason, we should rebuild the aluminum radiator conversion and, of course, completely from aluminum. The first thing to do is to get a cooler net of the right dimensions. Unfortunately, this is not very easy, if the dimensions are very important then the radiator mesh must be made exactly to size. It is easier if you can deviate slightly and the dimensions are not 100% important. Then there are some ready-made cooler nets to buy.
Then we had to contact our milling cutter so that he could produce the threaded bushes for us, which we then had to weld in.
The problem was solved relatively quickly, the guys are really fit in their field and were able to help us very quickly.
After a while, the cooler net finally arrived and we were able to get to work.
Now the main work began, so to speak. The containers are manufactured, cut, welded on completely, welded and of course as tight as possible. Of course, we always pressed and checked this again afterwards.
Things then became a little more challenging in the area of attachment points. Here you had to measure precisely, but the problem was that you didn’t have a correct reference point. We then built ourselves templates, holding points etc. so that we could implement this properly.
All in all, a cool project. I’m attaching our video again, so you can see exactly how we built the whole thing.
So I hope I was able to help you with the aluminum radiator conversion article. I would be delighted to receive your feedback. And if you would like to find out and see more about welding, then take a look at our channels. Welding is a daily topic there. YouTube channel
