Greetings from Schweißfan,Unfortunately, welding magnesium didn’t work for us for a long time. Unfortunately, when I started looking into magnesium welding, I didn’t find much information on the subject. And certainly not which filler material I should use or where I can get it from.

Welding magnesium correctly is possible!

This is precisely one of the most important issues in magnesium welding: which filler material do I use and where can I buy it, or rather in small quantities and not in five or ten kilos. This was exactly the problem I was facing at the time, and then it took some time before I was finally able to do the whole thing.

Yes, now I can definitely tell you that it is similar to welding cast aluminum. Of course, cleanliness is important before heating and I have already said several times that it must be the right filler material, but if you look closely you can also see that the weld pool looks different and also behaves differently when feeding. A striking feature of magnesium welding is that it lights up green. You can actually recognize very quickly that it is magnesium when welding.
