Which device for aluminum welding
Greetings from Schweißfan,
Which device for aluminum welding
The question is which device for aluminum welding. Here it depends on whether you want to weld MIG or TIG.
These are of course two different welding processes where you have to differentiate between what you want to weld and which accessories you need
Let’s start with MiG welding, where the basic principle is actually the same as with MRG welding, i.e. the gas comes out of the torch as soon as the torch ignites. If you want to weld a lot, e.g. frames or similar, MIG welding definitely makes sense. It is faster than TIG welding and introduces less heat into the material.
The welding machine must of course be slightly modified, i.e. the conveyor rollers must be suitable for aluminum. The nozzles and the core in the burner must be directly for aluminum. This is called argon, just like in TIG welding, and then you can actually weld aluminum with MIG.

Now a brief explanation of TIG welding.
This welding process is different because it has a torch, so to speak, and the filler material is added by hand if required. The advantage here is that you can first melt the material properly and then add the track as required.
You just have to make sure when you buy it that it is an ACDC welding machine which welds alternating current. You need this when welding aluminum to break up the oxide layer.
Of course, these devices are somewhat more expensive than those that can only weld stainless steel and steel. In return, you can do a lot in the aluminum area with the device.
With this welding process you can also do great aluminum casting and repair welding. That’s exactly what we do here every day. Then we weld 95 % of the time using the TIG process.
Of course, we also have some videos on the subject, which I will attach here. And if you would like to see more about welding, please visit our channels. It’s all about welding and tips and tricks on a daily basis.
