Welding aluminum Gas quantity
Hey sweat fan greetings,
Welding aluminum gas is not that difficult, or rather interesting.
When welding aluminum, it is basically the case that the normal 8 l gas volume is completely sufficient with an eight ceramic nozzle.
For the gas quantity, I recommend always welding with a gas lens. This does not necessarily change the amount of gas, but the uniformity of how the gas is fed to the melting bath. It is ultimately important that you always have good gas coverage when welding so that no oxygen can get in and cause pores or leaks. This would then be bad for the durability or for the tightness of the component.
If you set a higher gas flow rate, you will notice that your weld pool becomes more turbulent and there is a lot of swirling in the weld pool. So that would be counterproductive and should not contribute to things getting better in the end.
So just set the 8 again, you’ll be fine. If you use a small ceramic to get somewhere better for welding, you can of course turn the whole thing up a bit. I’m talking about a four or five nozzle. Then you can increase the gas volume to 10 liters.

There are many other important points to consider when welding aluminum. We also made some YouTube videos for this. So feel free to drop by. I am also attaching one here below.
I hope I was able to help you with this article. I would be delighted to receive your feedback. And if you would like to find out and see more about welding, then take a look at our channels, for example on YOUTUBE, where we talk about welding every day.
