Yes, the question is, can magnesium be repaired and if so, how? Magnesium is actually better known for the fact that it cannot be repaired or is very difficult to repair. There are a lot of statements circulating on the net.

 

And I had exactly the same problems a few years ago. I didn’t know how to repair or weld certain parts. That they can then be ground, milled, turned and reinstalled.

 

 

 

It is particularly common in the classic car sector. E.g. VW Beetle or T1 Bulli. But it was also used a lot in motorsport and racing because of its low weight.

 

 

Thank goodness it’s exactly different now. I now know how to weld the whole thing and which filler material can be used to weld it so that it holds in the end and looks original again.

 

The whole thing has to be extremely clean, of course. The most important thing is, of course, the right filler material.
