Aluminum welding without extraction
Hey sweat fan greetings,
Aluminum welding without extraction is that bad?
In my opinion, this is a very underestimated topic, but one that is really very important. Whether you weld or grind aluminum, you don’t really see anything, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t dangerous vapors and gases that are harmful to us. Not only the material, but also the argon used for welding displaces the oxygen and is not healthy either.
All these points should definitely not be ignored and you should definitely protect yourself against them. But what is the best way to do this? There are actually three points, the simplest being that you really should sit in a well-ventilated room that is always supplied with oxygen! It’s best not to use wind, of course, because that’s bad for welding and displaces our shielding gas. The next point is also the simplest, it wouldn’t even be that expensive. Welding with a face mask.
These are available from around 30 – 40 € and of course directly for welding. I definitely recommend one of these, the masks also fit perfectly under the welding helmet, of course you have to get used to it at the beginning but it doesn’t take long, better than aluminum welding without extraction. Once you’ve been welding with it for a while and then go back to normal stapling without a mask, you realize how bad the whole thing smells.
And the last thing would of course ideally be an additional extraction system. Of course, we are talking about a major investment here, which costs a few euros but would definitely be optimal for your health and also for employees or colleagues who are in the same room.
Have a look here on my Youtube channel where I have made a video about my gradations.

But the fresh air helmet is also an issue that I would also recommend despite the extraction system.
