The first thing you need to do is to optimally align the parts to be welded so that you can weld them very easily and perfectly afterwards. I.e. make a stapler at the outermost tip so that you can bring the sheet together nicely. Usually it does not fit together perfectly after edging, so you have a larger gap, which is not ideal at the beginning.

 

 

 

 

 

Now you can use a wooden or rubber mallet, for example, to bring the sheet metal together so that the gap is completely closed and the edges of the sheet metal are perfectly aligned.

 

 

Now you have to decide whether you just want to run the whole thing or weld with filler material. The Possibility to pulse the whole thing you would also have

 

 

What’s the best way to start now? I would always start welding from the point where you tack welded. Therefore, make the stapler slightly larger so that it does not melt again at the start of welding and the sheet metal shifts again.

 

 

 

 

and you take the heat to the thickest part of your weld seam. If you start welding from the other side, you have more material and take the heat with you to the outside. It can happen that the sheet sags too much or even drips off at the end.

 

 

The whole thing can now be run or welded with filler material. I would recommend a 2.4 additive here, which is completely sufficient to achieve a nice, fine and flat scale. have.

 

 

 

 

If you do the whole thing with 3 mm aluminum sheet metal like I do, you can weld with 150 A without any worries. It’s a personal story, of course. I am a very fast welder, so I always weld with a little more amperage.

 

 

 

When stapling, I always recommend choosing a little more amperage because it is simply faster and you only have to make one staple.
