Application and properties

Arc brazing of galvanized, aluminized and uncoated steel sheets. Vehicle body construction, air conditioning, ventilation and container construction. The corrosion protection of galvanized surfaces is largely retained in the joining area. Distortion is kept to a minimum when soldering sheet metal. The lower hardness of the solder compared to the iron-based weld metal makes it relatively easy to work the seams in the visible area.

What is TIG soldering?

In manual TIG soldering, rod-shaped solder (copper alloy) is usually fed into the TIG arc in a similar way to autogenous brazing (“flame soldering”) and melted in the arc. Copper-based materials such as FONTARGEN A 202 W have a significantly lower melting range than steel materials. Work is mainly carried out with a continuous arc. The tray position and drop position should be preferred to other soldering positions. There are no special requirements for the soldering equipment for TIG soldering. All commercially available TIG direct current sources and TIG torches are suitable for soldering. However, the current sources should be finely adjustable in the lower current range. Amperages of 20-100 A are sufficient for most applications.
